Representatives of the NATO Centre, the US Embassy and the UNFPA in Ukraine will be inspiring the girls at the “Robotics and Engineering” Module
The first online STEM is FEM module is going to take place this weekend. As always, the module is bringing together 30 girls from all over Ukraine, who have best coped with the competition assignment on the website. This time the meeting is going to be virtual due to the quarantine. But it doesn`t change the principles of the project – most interesting and professional speakers only will be communicating with the girls.
Motivational speakers of the “Robotics and Engineering” Module have been Deputy Director-General for Digitization and Innovation of the SC UkrOboronProm Nadiia Vasylieva, Director of NATO Information and Documentation Centre Kyiv Barbora Maronkova, UNFPA Programme Analyst Nataliia Koshovska, Deputy Minister for Social Policy of Ukraine on European Integration Tetiana Salnikova and Foreign Service Economic Officer of the US Embassy to Ukraine Megan Bouldin.
“The labour market in Ukraine features gender stereotypes, as does the one in the US and the one around the world. I am glad that such initiatives like STEM is FEM are working on overcoming them. Successful women in various fields – serve not just an example, but present a supportive system, which is helping other women to change their perceptions and is hopefully reducing the number of stereotypes and imaginary barriers. When you work with mentors and then start your own carrier, your network of acquaintances and the support by your successors become of an increasing importance. The high-tech sphere in Ukraine has a huge potential. The role of women in the sector is growing, and the US Government seeks to contribute to it through such programs as the “Women in technology network” supported by USAID. The organization helps women, employed in the technological sector, to build professional bridges, advance gender equality and develop their businesses”, - Megan Bouldin says.
The STEM School INVENTOR became a special partner of the module. Olena Savchynska, Coordinator of Trainers in the STEM School INVENTOR, will hold an exclusive lecture and a workshop for the module participants, and the School Director Oksana Stoyetskaya has constantly consulted the project team in the course of preparing the educational module.
In the Q&A sessions with women in the field, the following guests will participate - engineer Tetiana Karazhbei, software engineer Olga Bashynska, two representatives of the Ultimate Robotics team – team lead and production engineer Ksenia Kyrylyshena and operational manager, psychologist and designer Olga Grygorenko, Google Тechnical Program Manager Tetiana Grunina.
The participants of the “Robotics and Engineering” educational module are going to have an amazingly busy April weekend together with the STEM is FEM project.
