Yulia Marushevska

Yulia Marushevska is a Ukrainian activist and former civil servant. She gained international recognition after a video entitles 'I am a Ukrainian' on YouTube. The video was filmed during the apogee of the Euromaidan protests in early 2014 and quickly went viral online.

After President Yanukovych fled to another country, Yulia gave numerous interviews to media from around the world. She was invited to Europe, the United States and Canada to speak about the revolution. Later, in 2015, she became a researcher at Stanford University, working side by side with Larry Diamond, Francis Fukuyama and former US Ambassador to Russia Michael McFaul. She is a Ph.D. candidate in literature and history at Taras Shevchenko University in Kyiv.

In July 2015, she was appointed Deputy Head of the Odessa Regional State Administration. In October, she became the head of the Odessa customs, the infamous corrupt port on the Black Sea. She resigned in November 2016.

After that, she graduated from the Global Executive MPA program at New York University and studied at London University College. He currently continues to work in the anti-corruption field as Co-Chair of the Independent Anti-Corruption Committee on Defense aimed to fight against corruption in the Ukrainian defense sector.
