Vira Iefremova

Vira Iefremova

Vira Iefremova was born in Bila Tserkva, Kyiv region. Since childhood, she has been very interested in how the human brain works. At school, she learned about the activities of the Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and that was when she wrote her first research paper. After graduation, she entered the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv and later, graduated with honors from the Faculty of Biology. While studying, Vira was most interested in cell biology and neuroscience, especially developmental biology.

After graduation, Vira moved to Germany to work on her Ph.D. thesis. She is currently working at the Institute of Reconstructive Neurobiology, University of Bonn. Vira's Ph.D. project combines all the biology fields that were most interesting to Vera during her studies. She published two articles based on this project. Together with her colleagues, Vera discovered a part of the mechanism of origin of one of the diseases of human cerebral development. Vira is currently working on a new project at the same institute.
